Belgian musician Stromae, born Paul Van Haver, has captivated audiences worldwide with his unique blend of electronic music, hip-hop, and global rhythms. After a hiatus following his 2013 album “Racine Carrée,” Stromae made a triumphant return with his third studio album, “Multitude,” released on March 4, 2022.
“Multitude” showcases Stromae’s evolution as an artist, incorporating a diverse array of musical styles and instruments from various cultures. This eclecticism is evident in tracks like “Santé,” which pays tribute to workers worldwide, and “L’enfer,” a candid exploration of mental health struggles. The album received critical acclaim, with an impressive score of 85 out of 100 on Metacritic, indicating universal praise.
In support of “Multitude,” Stromae embarked on an extensive tour that spanned 2022 and 2023, marking his return to live performances after several years. The tour featured appearances at major festivals and venues across Europe and North America, including Coachella in the United States, Aluna Festival in France, and Sziget Festival in Hungary.
Stromae has long struggled with health problems caused by the side effects of an anti-malarial drug he took during his world tour while performing in Africa. He had to put his career on hold in 2015 after experiencing hallucinations and insomnia. He has also spoken of his struggles with burnout and depression. Unfortunately, Stromae cancelled his last European tour in May 2023 on health grounds as well. And as he previously announced on Instagram, he has just released a free film featuring footage from his recent Multitude tour.
