The series that stole all awards this year – Shogun. It is even funny to compare it with the famous Hollywood spectacle movie “The Last Samurai” from 2003. The fact that this project didn’t hire Tom Cruise says a lot.
The directors managed to stay clean of present Hollywood molds in scenario and casting. But despite that, maybe the only thing that I am not satisfied with in it is the main actor. Cosmo Jarvis has many talents as I know but acting is not the best among them. This fantastic scenography and costumography deserves best possible actor for the job. If we put it aside, Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai and comedy of Tadanobu Asano are just great! The series is the best recommendation for this year adn I am already looking forward to the next season.
